Decision
Most people make New Year's resolution to charge them up for the upcoming year. YAY!!!
They do this because sometimes the holiday season can bring so much anxiety, depression and negative emotions. They say their New Year's resolution in hope that January 1st will be their new start.
In reality, it is a celebration from staying away from excessive spending, excessive eating, etc. EVEN church people say how much God is going to bless them in the new year, because the previous year was sooooo bad. STOP IT! Did you not wake up 365 days with air in your lungs? Even though family/friends might not of met your expectations of kindness and consideration, didn't you rush to get off, spend more $$$ and time with them for the holidays? Geesh.
Ok, it is a new year.
Challenge #1
Be the type of friend you want your friend to be to you. Yet!!!!!! don't expect more from the friend than their already known character. (In other words...Don't expect more from people than their capacity to show you consideration and kindness...YOU WILL BE disappointed.)
I just learned this... This same challenge extends to family. They can only do to you what you allow them to. If you are tired of the negativity, tell them.
"Hey family, I understand that we all have difficult times through out our lives. This year in 2019 (be sure to say twenty nineteen- it sounds more official.) I need positive people and positive energy around me. I love you and I do care, but if I feel a little anxious because of where the conversation is going I will have to excuse my self. From now on I choose to experience the abundant life."
That is just an example of what you can say. They might get upset. They might even talk about you. Stand strong in retrieving your peace. You can't be a help to anyone if you are down and out. God gifts us with peace. Only we can choose to give it away. The same for love and joy. #smile #It'sNOTselfish #2019Peace
Challenge #2
Don't buy gifts. YOU say Jesus is the reason for the season. GO serve. NO gifts. Use that same "budgeted" money and give it to an organization that helps people in need. Give money to a college fund or some newly weds who would love to go to BORA BORA!!! (Ha ha ha ) If you serve through out the year it will not be a struggle when Thanksgiving/Christmas comes around.
Challenge #3
The big one!! We always say what God will do for us in this "Blessed YEAR". Promotions, house, spouses, grades and financial aid. That sounds good but....
What are we going to do for God? Let us consider doing, giving and speaking to God without any expectation of getting something in return.
Father, I worship You!
Father, I praise You!!
Father, I love You!!!
How can I please You Father?
How can I make You smile?
Blessed to be a blessing in 2019!!!!
What will you decide to do?
